050 - A very sturdy freestyle rustic walker. I made the handle from a natural piece of hazel branch and married it to a thick, stripped sycamore shank via a black buffalo horn spacer. |
|
This is a real rufty-tufty no-nonsense stick made for serious use, either as a mobility aid or for bashing around the countryside. The natural curl of the handle means it's very comfortable in the right hand, somewhat less so in the left. In spite of its obvious toughness, this stick is remarkably light in weight. |

I capped off the end of the handle with a piece of black buffalo horn. This looked a bit too plain, so I took a black and gold-coloured fancy button and embedded this in clear resin in the centre. This seems to have done the trick. |

The sycamore shank has a gentle double curve, which I was happy to leave in its natural state as it emphasises the rustic character of the stick. It handles nicely, too. SOLD |
