063 - Antler walker stick with stripped silver birch shank. The capping and spacer are of yew wood. The chunky handle works best in the right hand and would suit someone with big hands. |

The antler is worn smooth and white, indicating the original owner had to fight hard for his conjugal rights! |

|
The joint between spacer and shank is finished with a brass/copper-filled resin inlay. |

Here (left) is a close-up showing the lovely wavy grain of the yew. The slim birch shank (right) is firm and strong. The knots are rounded over, but the overall appearance is slightly "knobbly". |

At each end of the handle, the capping is set off with part of a (spent!) Winchester rifle cartridge - a 243 at the back, and a 308 at the front. These serve as both decoration and reinforcement for the antler/wood joint. |

A good solid stick which offers plenty of support.
