	098 - A simple one-piece blackthorn hiking staff. Maximum overall length 54" / 1.37m Slim to medium thickness and medium weight.
	This is a good sturdy companion for those long country walks, especially over difficult and varied terrain. The shank is distinctly oval in cross-section, making for a very comfortable grip in either hand. In addition I have shaped the base of the knob for maximum comfort.

	The tough bark is a lovely deep red-brown colour. I removed the thorns and rounded-over the resulting knots, retaining the character of the blackthorn but making the staff safe and comfortable to handle.

I put my signature to my work whenever this is practicable. Normally I only do this after cutting the stick to length to suit the purchaser, but I reckon I'm pretty safe doing it in advance with a tall staff like this. After adding my signature, I apply two or three coats of Tru-Oil to protect it from damage.
This is a good honest plain hiking staff; straight and true, comfortable and strong, but nothing fancy. SOLD
