C049 - Collector's item: a mahogany walking stick with a silver band hallmarked 1921.

Approx. dimensions:
Overall length 35.5" / 900mm
Diameter of shaft 13/16" / 21mm
Light weight, medium strength.

A simple stick of turned and bent mahogany. The relatively soft mahogany is covered in little nicks and scratches. The wood is darkened with age. This stick was obviously in constant use for many years.

The silver band is in similar condition. The maker's mark has been almost completely rubbed away, but the hallmark is still just about readable, indicating London 1921.

The original ferrule was missing, so I have replaced this with a new steel-tipped brass one (secured with hot-melt glue for ease of future replacements).

This is what I would call a "comfortable" stick. It's nothing fancy; just a good honest stick made from good honest materials to a simple, basic design. The sort of stick that you quickly get used to and almost forget you've got it in your hand.
